Why Here and Why Now? My Journey to Creating Social Impact Content
Every story has a beginning, and mine starts with my body, my health, and the lessons that came with navigating them. The “why” behind what I do today is rooted in my lived experience: the challenges that shaped me, the struggles I carried in silence, and the drive that fuels my passion for social impact.
I call this blog “Why Here and Why Now” because it’s about presence, purpose, and timing. This is my story, my voice, and why I feel called to create content that makes a difference.
Learning to Understand Myself
For much of my life, I didn’t fully understand my own body. I was managing a chronic condition that was invisible to most people, and very few understood what I was going through. Doctors, peers, even family members sometimes didn’t grasp how it affected my daily life.
Living with a condition like this taught me resilience, patience, and self-awareness, but it also brought isolation. Feeling misunderstood or unseen made me realise how important it is for young people to advocate for themselves and trust their own experiences, even when others don’t.
This personal struggle is a big reason I create social impact content. I want to shine a light on hidden challenges, normalise conversations about chronic illness and mental health, and help others who feel unseen or like they’re falling through the cracks. Not on my watch.
Why Here? Why Now?
Here: Because I am present in this moment, fully aware of my own body, my experiences, and the lessons I’ve learned from navigating chronic illness and misunderstanding. My struggles gave me insight into the realities that many young people face, especially when it comes to health, identity, and being heard.
Now: Because waiting doesn’t help anyone. There are young people out there who feel misunderstood, invisible, or isolated. Social impact content can reach them, spark conversation, and validate their experiences. I have the voice, the platform, and the urgency to create change now.
The combination of “here” and “now” reflects purpose. My lived experience isn’t just my story, it’s a tool to educate, empower, and inspire others to advocate for themselves.
Turning Struggle Into Action
Creating social impact content isn’t just about telling my story, it’s about creating connection and empowerment. Here’s how I channel my experience into meaningful work:
Sharing Personal Stories: I openly discuss my journey with chronic illness, the frustration of being misunderstood, and the lessons I’ve learned. Vulnerability creates understanding.
Highlighting Hidden Challenges: Many struggles, like chronic conditions or mental health issues, go unseen. I bring these to light to raise awareness.
Providing Tools and Resources: I combine stories with practical guidance so others can navigate challenges, access support, and advocate for themselves.
Building Community: I foster spaces where people feel seen, supported, and validated. Conversations and connection matter as much as the content itself.
Every post, video, or piece of content is a way to turn personal struggle into shared strength.
What Drives Me Every Day
At my core, I am driven by empathy, authenticity, and urgency. I know what it feels like to feel misunderstood by the world, to wrestle with your own body, and to navigate challenges largely alone. My mission is to make sure no one feels completely alone in that experience.
Self-advocacy, visibility, and connection are my tools. My chronic condition taught me the importance of listening to myself, trusting my body, and speaking up, even when no one else seems to understand. That is the energy I bring to every piece of content I create.
Final Thoughts: Why Here and Why Now
This is why I create, why I share, and why I refuse to stay silent. My lived experience, my body, my health struggles, and the isolation I’ve felt, is not just my story. It is a bridge to impact, empathy, and change.
Here and now is my moment to act. My story is my power. And the work I create is a bridge, from hidden struggles to awareness, from isolation to advocacy, from personal challenges to collective empowerment.
