Privacy Policy

I run Lightening Up from Fremantle, Western Australia, and I’ve written this policy the way I’d want one written for me: in plain language, with nothing hidden in the fine print. If anything here doesn’t make sense, email hello@lighteningup.com.au and I’ll explain it properly.
The short version
We collect very little. We do not sell your information to anyone, ever. Anything you write inside our app stays on your own device and never reaches us.
What we collect
When you contact us or join a waitlist: your name, email address, and a phone number only if you choose to give one, along with whatever you write in your message. We use this to reply to you and to let you know when the thing you joined a waitlist for is ready.
When you use LighteningUp Navigator: nothing. Everything you enter is saved on your own device. It is not sent to us, stored on our servers, or seen by anyone but you.
When you visit the website: standard technical information such as pages visited and approximate location, which we use to understand what is useful. We do not use this to identify you personally.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use what you tell us to build a profile of you. We do not use your story or your information to train AI systems.
Who else can see it
We use a small number of service providers to run the website and send email. They process information on our behalf and cannot use it for their own purposes.
Some of these providers store data outside Australia. Where that happens, we choose providers with recognised security practices.
How long we keep it
Contact messages: up to 2 years, so we have context if you get back in touch. Waitlist sign-ups: until the product launches, or until you ask to be removed. You can ask us to delete anything sooner.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or unsubscribe at any time. Email hello@lighteningup.com.au and we will action it, normally within 30 days.
Security
We keep what little we hold on reputable services with access controls and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise. If something goes wrong in a way that could seriously harm you, we will tell you.
Children
Our products are written for adults and for young people with a supporter. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 15 without a parent or guardian involved.
Complaints
Email hello@lighteningup.com.au first and we will take it seriously. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, say so on the website.
