I Used to Rehearse Sentences I Never Said
· Updated · Madeleine Nicholas
There was a period of my life where I’d rehearse a sentence in my head for days and never actually say it out loud. I knew what I wanted to ask for. I just couldn’t make myself do it.
Self-advocacy isn’t really about being loud or confrontational. It’s about taking control of your own life instead of handing that control to whoever’s in the room with you. When you actually use your voice, you stop just navigating your life and start shaping it.
I used to think staying quiet was the safe option. It wasn’t. It just meant other people got to decide things for me by default, because I never told them otherwise.
Using your voice does a few things at once: it lines your life up with what you actually want instead of what you’re handed, it strengthens your sense of who you are, and it opens doors, not just for you but for the people watching you do it.
Your voice is powerful. Not because it’s loud, but because it’s yours, and nobody else can use it for you.
What’s a sentence you’ve been rehearsing but haven’t said yet?
If you’re ready to finally say it, Self Advocacy Unleashed will show you how. Join the waitlist, link in bio.
