LighteningUp Navigator

Coming soon. LighteningUp Navigator is the app you get access to when you buy any Lightening Up product.

You do not need the right words to begin. You just need somewhere to start.

What it helps with

Navigator is built for the specific moments where systems get hard:

  • A letter or decision arrived and you cannot work out what it actually means
  • You have a meeting coming up and you want to walk out with something decided
  • You need to ask for something, push back on a no, or make a complaint
  • You keep being sent from one service to another and nobody will own the problem
  • Someone promised to follow up and they have not
  • You want to recognise the parts of your life that have nothing to do with services or diagnoses

You do not need to know which of those applies. The app opens with one question, “what would help you move forward today?”, and takes you to the right place from there.

What is inside

What Help Do I Need? The front door. Tell it what is going on in your own words. No service jargon required.

Explain This to Me. Paste in a confusing letter or decision and get back what it appears to mean, what matters most, what is still unclear, and questions you could ask.

Meeting Equaliser. Turns your situation into a one page meeting plan: your three key points, your questions, your preferred outcome. Afterwards it captures what was decided and what was promised.

Advocate With Me. Helps you draft an email, letter, phone script or complaint, in a tone you choose: gentle, clear, firm or urgent.

No Wrong Door. For when you are being bounced between services. Maps what has happened, what is unresolved, and a sensible next step.

Promise Tracker. Records what was promised, by whom, and by when, so the follow up is not sitting in your memory.

My Valued Roles. Space to recognise your strengths, relationships and roles. Friend, volunteer, mentor, family member. Not only the parts of your life defined by need.

My Journey. One calm view of what you are working on and your next useful step. Not a dashboard.

Information can flow from one tool into the next, but only when you approve it. You always see exactly what is being carried across, and you can remove any of it.

Your information stays on your device

Navigator saves your work on the device you are using. It is not sent to us, stored on our servers, or shared with anyone.

The app installs to your phone, tablet or computer and keeps working offline. You can export your information whenever you want, and delete any single item, or everything, at any time.

There is nothing to sign up for inside the app, and no account required to use it.

Built to be usable on a bad day

Navigator is built to WCAG 2.2 AA as a minimum, with plain language throughout and one question per screen.

It has three energy modes, because the days you most need to advocate are often the days you have least in the tank:

  • Quick. One question, one suggested next step.
  • Guided. Step by step support.
  • Review. See and edit your whole journey at once.

Alongside that: adjustable text size, strong colour contrast, full keyboard navigation, screen reader support, a reduced motion option, large touch targets, an Easy Read mode with shorter sentences, and read aloud and voice input where practical.

What it does not do

Being clear about this matters more than being impressive.

  • It does not replace legal, medical, financial or crisis help
  • It does not contact services, send messages, or make decisions for you. You review and approve everything before it leaves the app
  • It does not predict outcomes, invent laws, policies or contact details, or present a guess as a fact
  • It is not a substitute for a qualified advocate, lawyer or clinician where you genuinely need one

If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services. Navigator will point you to proper support rather than trying to help you advocate your way through a crisis.

Who it is for

People navigating services and systems for themselves. Disabled people and people with chronic or rare conditions. Families and supporters helping someone else. Anyone who feels overwhelmed, dismissed, or unsure where to begin.

The first version is built for individuals. Tools for communities and groups come later, once the individual experience has been properly tested.

How to get it

Access to Navigator is included when you buy any Lightening Up product. Nothing extra to pay.

It is not open yet. Join early access and you will be among the first in when it opens.
